Multicolour surface photometry and an HI measurement are presented for a distant object in Lee, which was interpreted by Zwicky as a binary galaxy. From our observations and from IRAS data we deduce that the object is probably a single galaxy with a strong dust lane. The far-infrared emission indicates that a strong star formation burst is taking place in the gas-dust lane.
